| Who: | All persons are welcome to attend. | ||||
| Caller: | Dan Saathoff of Warrenville, Illinois, utilizes a large repertoire of historic circle, square, contra and other styles and forms of old time dance. He has been dancing, collecting this material and calling for many years. | ||||
| Band: | Diane Ippel and Rob Williams play
live historic music appropriate to the dances on hammered
dulcimer and melodeon.
No dance experience is necessary. All dances are taught and walked through before being done. There now exists a core of dancers who have been attending the old time dance since it's inception in March 1999. They help new dancers through the figures and are familiar with the vocabulary used. This makes it much easier! Many dances are aerobic, so get your heart rate up, listen to good music, make some new friends, and have some fun! |
||||
| Donations: | The suggested donation is $6 per adult. Children are free. | ||||
| Sponsors: | Thanks to the Morris Area
Public Library who sponsored the first few dances, and to the Morris Arts
Council, a committee of the Morris Downtown Development Partnership, who
provided support and sponsroship in the past.
PS: The next nearest old time dances being held on a regular basis are in Bloomington, Batavia and Chicago. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to participate in something different, entertaining and healthy right here in MORRIS! For information, call 815-922-2865 or email me |
