The Society For The Preservation of Old Time Music

We are a non profit organization dedicated to preserving musical forms and techniques that are rapidly disappearing with the current generation.  We sponsor concerts, dances, and workshops.  Any help you can provide in publicizing our events will be greatly appreciated.

Press Release

On Saturday night, November 16, there will be a concert of old-time music held at the Sandwich Opera House in Sandwich, Illinois.  The doors open at 6:30pm and the music is from 7:00 until 9:30pm.  Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.

The headline performer is Diane Ippel.  She has been called the Midwest's finest hammer dulcimer player.  Her material ranges from the very old folk/traditional tunes and songs,  to modern arrangements of classic pieces.   She is the founder and current coordinator of the Gebhard Woods Dulcimer Festival now in its 16th year.

Ellen and John Wright are Northwestern University professors who play and sing folk music.  He plays the clawhammer bamjo and she accompanies him on the guitar.  Opening the show will be renowned folksinger Anna Stange.  She has performed throughout the country and is especially well known for her renditions of songs for children.

The master of ceremonies for the show will be former grammy nominee, traditional ballad singer Acie Cargill.  For more information, please call the Opera House at (815)786-2555.
